Coconut Water - All its cracked up to be?

Coconut Water – Is it all its cracked up to be? – Is it really more hydrating than water?

In its pure state – it is a very nutrient dense, thirst quenching drink. It contains vitamins like iron and manganese and also contains the 5 electrolytes we know are used for hydration support – sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. It also contains a unique combo of sugars, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and cytokinines – a group of plant growth hormones that help regulate cell growth, development and ageing. Coconuts are also said to balance out ph-levels, strengthen and hydrate connective tissues.

Be careful when choosing canned variety to not drink to many that have added sugar or other nasty ingredients. Be sure to choose fresh where possible – fresh is always best!

  1. NATURES ENERY DRINK – Switch that extra cup of coffee or redbull to a fresh coconut.

  2. Coconut water contains Vitamin C – which helps boost the immune system.

  3. Research shows that Cytokinins have anti-ageing and anti-cancer effects.

  4. Coconut water is a natural isotonic – with 15 times the amount of potassium found in most other sports drinks.

  5. Ultimate Hangover Remedy – next time you are trying to recover from a big night on the town, grab yourself a coconut water and rehydrate your mind and body.

  6. Regulates blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol

  7. For your skin – if you have acne or pimple problems or just want to stay young and beautiful – apply coconut water to your face and leave on overnight – watch it repair.

  8. A great natural post workout carb. – add to your bsc naturals protein shake.

The fresher the coconut water, the better. Once opened, exposed to air and warm temperatures, it rapidly ferments and loses its nutritional value.

My favourite recipe :

Coconut Water with fresh Organic Cucumbers, Lime, Lemons, Mint and pinch of Ginger.
