The Perfect Dukkah Recipe

Dukkah is an Egyptian spice blend traditionally made from roasted nuts, seeds and spice.

I love making my own healthy combinations so that I can sprinkle onto salads or veggies or adding to the top of my favourite dishes. It works perfectly on top of poached eggs + avocado on sourdough .

Traditional basic ingredients include a base of nuts such as almond, pistachio, walnuts, hazelnut, cashew, pine nuts or macadamia. Sometimes Ill do these in the pan lightly to give them a toasted flavour. 

I love making this beautiful mix as it packs a very powerful health punch!

Lets see why, I used Macadamias this time, these naturally contain antioxidants like manganese, vitamin E and zinc. 

Sesame seeds are high in magnesium that helps support vascular and respiratory health. They are also high in calcium.

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and powerful antioxidant which comes from its beautiful bright yellow colour!

Black pepper helps to enhance digestion and absorption of other nutrients properties.

Cinnamon improves insulin’s efficiency, which lowers and helps to regulate blood sugar levels.


30g Pistachios 

60g Hazelnuts 

60g Macadamias

1 tabs coriander seeds, hemp seeds, black and white sesame seeds, golden flax 

1.5 tsp cinnamon 

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp celtic sea salt 

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp turmeric 

How to:

Chop the bigger nuts, leaving a few still chunky. I use a small coffee grinder for this or you can use a high powered blender (vitamix) but just make sure you dont leave it on to long that it turns to powder.

Combine all the other ingredients together along with the bigger nuts into a bowl. 

Mix the dukkah well and taste to desired flavour. 

Store in glass jar in fridge. 


You could add in chilli spices, zest or sweeter flavours. Feel free to use which ever nuts you like!
