It’s definitely no secret by now that I’m a massive fan of turmeric, a bright yellow spice that comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant.
Turmeric is a traditional ingredient used in curries and mustards but these days its used for so many other amazing recipes. sweet and savoury.
It has enormous healing properties - and has been used medicinally for about 4,000 years; in both Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The active substance in turmeric is a compound called curcumin.
Curcumin is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.
Try and incorporate this beautiful yellow spice in your diet somehow daily, whether it be in liquid or powder form.
2 cups of milk of choice (almond, coconut etc)
1 tsp organic turmeric powder
2 tsp freshly grated ginger or 1 tsp ginger powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cardamon powder *opt
2 fresh dates or can use honey or maple syrup to sweeter *opt
banana (for smoothie)
ice cubes (for smoothie)
Blend all ingredients together in blender (banana and ice included if making cold smoothie
(for warm milk) Heat blended ingredients in small pot on stove, stiring often
