You Inspire Me with Tamara Meyer -TMFITNESS


This girl is a dream boat – not only does she practice what she preaches, leading by example, she is an absolute gem of a girl!

Tamara knows from working with others and from her own personal experience that we face hardships in our lives quite often daily. She knows that we all have our own story to tell. Tamara is on a mission to help educate others on letting go of their past and becoming the person they were born to be. She is a personal trainer who coaches many individuals, changing their lives both mentally and physically.

Take the time to get to know this little miss. You won’t be disappointed.


Hi Tamara, Im so excited to be chatting with you today, from the day I first spoke to you I knew you were a special girl, so how bout we start with how you would describe yourself in one sentence- I would describe myself as very passionate, hard-working person which a huge heart and I will do anything whenever my mind is set on something, I never give up!!

So as we can see you are super fit young lady; Tell us more about TM Fitness? TM FITNESS is my PT business I started only last year. I had always wanted to inspire others around me. I had other dreams of being a performer and inspiring others through that. On the way I found Fitness, which helped with all my demons in my life. I then realised I could help and inspire others through fitness and that’s what happened. My logo is “Empowering Dreams and Leading by Example.” I want to educate those around me that you have to feel good internally as well as externally. To be happy and to love yourself.

So you are very much a motivated girl, What is your motivation to get up and do what you do every day?

Amazing, I really believe to do well in our industry you need not only a passion but to help others learn by educating in some way; I would get that you are super mot I would have to say my training and my job. Each day I always think “What can I do better or improve better with my business or myself?” I read somewhere if you try and improve in something each week, they are the people who become truly successful in life. Dedicating time and energy to better yourself each and every day.


What kinds of things inspire you? And whom do you admire or find inspiration through? I am inspired by people who have a story. I am inspired by even my clients. When you get to know someone and hear what they have been through and how they have overcome life battles, I truly feel so blessed to be around them. I think to myself: “Because of what you’ve been through, you are here today, because of you, others will not give up because of your story.” Other people that inspire me are strength coach people. I love seeing a body lift heavy weights. It is something that I want to be. Someone fierce and strong. I am also truly inspired by LJ Clarkson- very successful business woman and Michelle Bridges- I want to be the next Michelle Bridges. For strength- Dinny J from Base Body Babes. I absolutely think she is a pocket rocket, a beautiful heart and is incredibly strong. I want to be at her elite level.

What or who was it that inspired you to create a change in your life, to help others and/or to become the amazing woman you are today? A really good friend of mine, Ashley Freeman. We both went to the same dance college and both wanted to be successful in the industry. It was Ashley who started becoming a fitness fanatic, that made me see that I could do both. Dance, perform and become a fitness icon.

Another great industry role model! So was there a wake up call or ‘aha’ moment that made you realised you wanted to make a change or that you wanted to create a change in the world around you? This is pretty raw BUT I was very addicted to Stilnox which is a sleeping pill. I don’t know HOW I was prescribed this at the age of 20 years old and still had access to getting them from my Doctor, but I basically would take them to knock myself out. The things that stillnox did was, make you sleep walk and eat. I also remember calling a lot of people once on my phone whilst being drugged on Stillnox, including a guy I once saw. It ended very bad, where to I nearly overdosed on the medication. I marched the next day to my doctor and said: “DO NOT let me have this ever again.” From then on, It was all about working on myself, my health, how I felt internally and being able to sleep naturally.


Thank you so much for sharing that with us, I think most of us have our own story to share; not only does it help us heal by doing so but it also really helps others to see you can be anything you want to be with any background. Self love is so powerful and of high importance don’t you think, what would you say are the 3 things you love most about yourself Self Love is the most important thing. It took me ages to love myself and when I did everything was working out for me. I love my care-factor for people, I love that I have the confidence to talk to anyone and I love my big bum.

So what would you say was your biggest personal hurdle or a health challenge? How did you overcome it, how has it changed you and helped you to grow? I think fighting depression and anxiety. You feel like you’re the only one going through this and you can’t explain why some mornings you are ridiculously low. Yet to others you have to put on a big smile and continue on with your day when inside you are dying. I think once I connected with myself more and shape shifted my thoughts, things turned out much better for me.


Having experienced my own depression and anxiety demands I know all to well about this; and you really do feel like you are alone, I started this Inspiring Series to chat with people like yourself so that others could see they are not alone…. Tamara, do you have any advice that you would you give to someone who is going through their own personal challenges or hardships? My advice would be to not be afraid to talk to someone. I always used to write in my journal everyday on how I was feeling. I also wrote positive things too and read a lot of books of people that were like me. This helped me to sleep better at night and wake up in a positive frame.

What do you think has helped you most through your darkest times? What helped me through my dark times was surrounding myself with positive people. The people you are around the most is what is going to reflect on yourself and how you feel as a person. You want people to lift you up when you are down. Always have a goal. Whether it is a goal to make your bed or eat healthy for a day or to get your bum at the gym. Small goals are at least a goal and the more you do them the more you will feel like you have achieved something.

Having experienced depression and anxiety and other hardships, Would you agree that you need to nourish your mind equally as much as the body, if so why? And what is it that you do to achieve this?

It is just equally important!! When you are in a bad state of mind, it connects to you day, how you train, how you talk to people and your work. I taught myself to use that energy and take it out on my training sessions, because afterwards I would feel so much better. I also watch a lot of Eric Thomas Youtubes- he is a very good motivating speaker and knows how to make you feel 10x better. SO I always tell my clients to watch his stuff when their feeling crap.

Every one loves quotes and sayings these days – Do you have a favourite inspirational quote, mantra or affirmation?

Pain is temporary, quitting is Forever.

BELIEVE DREAM AND NEVER GIVE UP

What are your go to nutrition tips for performance in the gym? I think eating every 2-3 hours is crucial. I can’t survive at the gym if I haven’t eaten. I also say if you want cheese cake have cheese cake. Because that is what your body wants. Just know when to stop and always work hard so you can have cheesecake. Don’t restrict yourself from food, everything is in moderation.

ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST.


Your favourite exercise and why? Would be the squat and deadlift. I love lifting heavy
